Families of seed plants follow a modified Englerian system in which dicots are treated between the gymnosperms and monocots. This facilitates comparison of Flora of China treatments with Flora Reipublicae Popularis Sinicae treatments. Families of fern and fern-allies are arranged according to Ching (1978). Modern information on the circumscriptions of families is incorporated.
